Shades

Shades of Mediocrity
     "What's the use of voting?
Our MP's do their own thing!
We're not going to vote for anyone!"
We're in the shade of Mediocrity.

Shades of Calamity
     The milk nearly spilt,
     The toast nearly burnt,
     The car nearly didn't stop.
     Mornings in shades of Calamity.

Shades of Absurdity
"Man will walk on the moon."
     "Driverless cars are the future."
"Mars is the new retirement village."
Living in the shade of Absurdity.

Shades of Neutrality
I'll travel, but less by plane.
I'll drive, but not every day.
I'll vote, but not sure who for.
     Considering the shades of Neutrality.

Shades of Lucidity
     Mum's 99 this year.
A dear old soul who just can't hear.
Her memories have faded, nearly all gone.
But every now and then I see
     Shades of Lucidity!

Shades of Uncertainty
My job, a career, an income unsure.
My future, my family, so far.
     Will I? Won't I? Questions galore.
     In shades of Uncertainty.

2018 PP

Past, Present or Future?

If I live in the Past
I can't see the Present.
If I live in the Present
I'm unprepared for the Future.
If I constantly plan for tomorrow's maybe's
I may miss the joys in all my Presents.

My Past has brought me safe thus far,
My Present is what I have today.
My Future uncertain
But will become the Present
And each day to day will become my Past.

Past, Present, Future.
Whatever it held.
Whatever it holds.
Whatever it will become.
I have no choice.
It will all become the Past
The moment it happens.
